Students have been selected for various honor choirs and performances since the inception of the school. Below is a list of students selected and years.

Select Choral Performances 

2010 Carnegie Hall Performance – New York Premier of Eric Whitacre’s opera “Paradise Lost: Darkness and Shadows”

2010 Backup Choir for Todd Rundgren’s US Tour in Philadelphia. Subsequently released on DVD.

Invited to perform for the 2011 Governor’s Inauguration.

Superior ratings at District and State Choral Festival since 2010

2014 Cantala Women’s Choir invited to perform in Baltimore at the American Choral Directors Association Eastern Division Conference

2014 Cantala Women’s Choir Invited to perform in Baltimore at the Maryland Music Educators Association Conference.

2011 Cantala Women’s Choir invited to perform at the New Jersey Music Educators Association conference.

 

Additional Information

Partnership with HUB Opera Ensemble since 2011. Students get the opportunity to perform with a professional opera company.

Partnership with Hagerstown Choral Arts - Performance of select masterworks of Choral/Orchestral music.

Graduating students have received half to full tuition scholarships.

Students attended summer programs at Luther College and Westminster Choir College.

 

Selected colleges: Florida State University, Towson University, Shenandoah Conservatory, University of Maryland- Baltimore County, Westminster Choir College, Carnegie Mellon University, Rider University, Shepherd University, Ithaca College, and West Virginia University.

 

Choral Ensembles include: Chamber Choir, Concert Choir, Cantala Select Women’s Choir, Women’s Chorale, Vocal Jazz Ensembles (mixed and women’s).
